I have two 4 month old miniature Chihuahua miniature Doberman Pinscher mixed puppies which are very hyper and very protective of each other. They fight all the time. I was considering separating them, but since they are extremely close I don't know if this is a good idea. Any suggestions?

When they "fight" does anyone get hurt or is it just a lot of noise? Many animals when small will "rough house" and not hurt each other. If it's just noise leave them alone they will out grow it. They are just playing.
If they are drawing blood then yes, you must step in and stop it. It's all a matter of teaching them that you don't like what they are doing. To put them in separate rooms will only teach them that there is something wrong with the other dogs and could make matters worse. Scold them and pull them apart telling them NO!! Do that every time you catch them but don't separate them. Be consistent.
