I bought my puppy from a private party, we took her in to have her altered. When they tested her for parvo, she was positive. After multiple sleepless nights on two hour shifts with my wife, through injections of saline, and other means of forced hydration, we were able to save the puppy.
She was feeling much better, when approximately a week later, we noticed heavy urination, she was becoming lethargic again. We believe she has a UTI and we are treating her as such with amoxicillin, cranberry extract,
and plenty of fresh water.
My question is this, I am starting to get concerned that I didn't complete the parvo treatment? But I have a friend, who said, if this puppy has lasted 2 weeks, the parvo is gone. Is that true? Is lethargy a symptom of a UTI as well? This is day 2 of amoxicillin and cranberry. When should I see signs of it getting better with this treatment?
Thank you so much.

Parvo is a very complicated illness and also a very hard one to treat and deal with. I have had 2 dogs with this illness and each one of them was different. My first dog got it and he just stopped eating drinking and just laid around and refused to move. He did throw up a bit but not the same as the other dog did. I just had to take this one to the vet twice for shots and in a few days he was feeling better. I also thought it was over when about 3 weeks later he started to show signs of it again. He had to go back to the vet for moe shots. So you see it does take a lot of time for the dog to fully recover from this. I would suggest that you take the puppy back to the vet and have him looked at again.
Thanks for your comments, I contacted the breeder amediately when I found out and informed him that his other puppies will most likely have it is well. My wife has just taken her into the vet, and I'm thinking that we may have stopped the parvo treatment too soon.
This is your fur baby! She deserves a Vet visit! Parvo is nothing to play with. It takes time, often weeks. She is young and needs you to survive.
I'm not surprised she got a UTI, poor thing. Something terrible like parvo would really have taken a toll on her immune system.
I find it interesting that you can also treat dogs with cranberry juice, as with humans.
