It kind of depends on what exactly you are trying to remove from your water. There are only a few feasible ways to truly purify your tap water and reverse osmosis is definitely one of the best and most feasible for household use.
I use the Brita pitcher. They also have a filter you can put directly on the faucet.
In our household, we have reverse osmosis water filter installed to our sink and it purifies the water and we could drink it.
The quality of the water is much better than your normal filter and we actually get alkaline quality water.
