Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 239 Posts These little dolls are brilliant for unexpected young guests because they are so quick to make. You can use materials that most people have around the house and the children can have fun making them with you.
Total Time: 10 minutes
Yield: one doll
Supplies:
- 1 square of thin flexible material such as cloth, plastic cut from a carrier bag, cotton handkerchiefs or paper kitchen towels
- 3 short lengths of string, ribbon, or cord or loom bands/ponytail bands
- 1 small piece of stuffing, this can be kapok, cotton wool, screwed up tissue, or a polystyrene ball if you have one
Steps:
- If you wish you can cut off 2 opposite corners of your square. This is optional.
- Turn your square face down and place the stuffing in the middle.
- Holding the stuffing in place, tie a band around it on the right side to form the doll's neck.
- Tie two more bands at the corners for her hands.
- If you cut the corners off previously, you can use these for head scarves for other dolls, but this can be a bit fiddly if the doll is small. You can draw, paint or stitch a face on your doll too.
- See how easy it is to make one of these dolls out of scraps, and bits and pieces of tissues, string, and plastic.
- It will take you only minutes to make a whole family of dolls and the kids will think you are magnificently clever!
