I dyed my hair medium auburn yesterday to redo my roots. Now I want to dye it dark blonde; will it work?

If your hair was chartreuse, yesterday; I could make it vermilion, tomorrow. It would work for me, but then, I would know what I was doing.
Short answer: Yes, it will work if you know what you are doing.
Sorry for the short answer. I should have been more thoughtful.
Your hair has a permanent color on it. Hence, the need to color the regrowth. In order to achieve satisfactory results, corrective color work would have to be done.
You cannot apply a dark blond color to hair that has been previously colored with a permanent auburn color and get a dark blond final color. There is no dark blond color on the market which will lighten the permanent auburn color.
When I say corrective work, I mean that the auburn color would have to be removed with a professional color remover. Then, bleach would have to be applied to remove any remaining colors darker than the dark blond you would be applying. Your hair would go through red brown, red, red gold and even gold stages if you chose a drab dark blond final color.
All of the above, could leave your hair very damaged. It would be extremely important that a strand test be performed before each full head treatment.
Unless your hair is quite strong, breakage could occur. A skilled colorist would know every precaution to take. Midway through the treatment, the colorist may decide to limit the procedure to a color darker than you desire. Otherwise, you could end up temporarily bald.
The nicknames Mexican Hairless and Chrome Dome aren't very pretty, are they?
