Re-dying a Bad Dye Job?

A few months ago, I had my dark brown hair colored to red. It turned out great. I went for a root touch up and ended up with fire engine red roots which doesn't match the rest of my hair at all. The original color isn't that bright. I'm tempted to try a boxed dye and just go back to dark brown. Thoughts?

Oh dear, don't touch anything yet and have the place that did the roots fix it. Fresh hair always goes brighter when coloured... but they should have evened it out for you.

Go back to the place who did it and ask for a redo or your money back. Red is hard to get right. You can go to a beauty school and it will be cheaper.

Your hairdresser might have picked up the wrong bottle by mistake. I have seen that happen when I did hair in a beauty shop many years ago. Whoever did your hair can call that company and they will give her the formula to correct it.

By the way your question sounds, I know you would be very kind to your hairdresser when you tell her about this mistake. She should actually be glad you came back to her for her help. (Or his.)

Anytime you pay for a professional to do your hair, it is up to them to fix it if you are unhappy. I'd call them right away and have them fix your hair. They should be happy to do this for you because they don't want to lose you as a customer.
