Read Your Coupons!

I am a coupon queen, and while I am not at the level of those extreme couponers, I can still do some damage at the store! Recently, I was able to save my friend almost $17 in hair care products with coupons. It was her first time couponing too so she was pleasantly surprised! Here are my tips I gave her:

When you get a coupon for "Buy One Get One Free" on shampoo and conditioner, use it. Even if you don't need it right then, it is good enough savings that if you have the $4 for the shampoo, go get it. Because when you DO need shampoo, oh wait! It's in the linen closet! And now, you don't have to spend $4 on shampoo AND $4 on conditioner. That's $4 you can put in your gas tank, or buy some bread and eggs.

If the coupon is for shampoo you don't normally buy, but is a comparable price to your usual brand, go for it! you are getting half of it free and any money saved is a good!

Also check the dates on your coupon, then check sale ads! I had 2 coupons for Pantene, "Buy One Get One Free". Usually Pantene is $4 a bottle, but Target had them on sale for $3 a bottle one week, AND I had a Target coupon for $1.50 off any Pantene shampoo or conditioner. Now for those of you that don't know this: You can use a Target coupon AND 1 manufacturer coupon per item. SO: I bought the $3 shampoo and the $3 conditioner. Already that is a savings of $2 because of the in store sale. Then, I used my "Buy One Get One Free" coupon; another $3 saved. THEN I added my $1.50 off coupon. So I bought $8 in shampoo and conditioner for only $1.50!

Check your coupons, and combine them with store sales and in store coupons!! Rite aid and some other drugstores also will have in ad store coupons that you can combine with manufacturer coupons. So, READ YOUR COUPONS!

I'd begun collecting coupons but discovered that coupons were never for what was on my grocery list. I shop fresh, frozen and a few canned items like tomatoes or pork n beans.

I try to avoid all the additives manufacturers add to prepackaged foods. As for toiletries I grab them when on sale.
