Recovery Time for a Dog With Parvo?

I sent my dogs in the morning to the vet to be treated for parvo. After I gave them to the vet they were smiling, walking up and down, growling, and drinking water. But now it is the afternoon and they are shaking, twitching, and bleeding, but they are still moving up and around. They are also defecating, no vomiting and peeing. Are they going to get better and how long will it take?

I would contact the vet ASAP. You may have to bring them back.

One of them died but the next but I am going to listen ur advice for the next one. She died while I was giving her some glucose she was swallowing it so it went through her nose and stifle her.

She wagged her tail a little bit to tell me thanks then as I was telling my mom, she died.

All of them died. I carried the last one to the vet but the Jamaican doctors are horrible. I brought him with no hookworm and tick fever. He ended up getting it and made it worse. At least why tried he was our only boy dog. his brother has it now but my grandma has him

Parvo is complicated and needs very good vet input and following vet directions to the letter. Recovery varies, just like it is with people who get very sick. It could be days, weeks or even months.

Any changes require a trip back. Since they have already been to the vet, best to get them back to the vet or to an emergency vet ASAP. You do not want them to dehydrate. Prayers for you and the pups!! I know parvo survivors so keep up lots of positive thoughts and be sure to listen to exactly what the vet tells you to do!!!

Parvo is a vicious disease. It is not unusual for dogs to get worse before they get better. I am so sorry you lost one of your dogs. I am sure you are doing the best you can, and that is all you can do. When symptoms change with your remaining dog, call your Vet to see if you need to do anything differently.

And then you need to follow his advice to the letter. He may want you to bring the dog back for hospitalization. Parvo varies from dog to dog and it may be a couple of weeks before your dog is recovering. Best of luck to you.
