Recovery Time for a Dog with Parvo?

My 3 year old Husky mix ended up getting diagnosed with parvo last Friday. We noticed symptoms the day prior and he was in the ER in less than 24 hrs. They gave him a 2 hr treatment. The next day he went to the vet where we got IV fluids and medications.

It is Sunday evening and he still won't eat or drink (however he drank very little on his own yesterday before throwing it up). He is at times more alert and can walk and move around. And others, like now, is very lethargic and sickly. Should I worry? He doesn't seem worse, but barely better. Of course with the holiday I don't have many affordable choices for vet care for another 2 days. I would like to know if he needs to go in, and if this seems normal for parvo? Also if it's possible he will recover from this? I'm very worried that even with the medication he's still throwing up and diarrhea.
Thank you!

All medications have side effects, but not always does it happen. Check online for reactions your dog might be experiencing for each med given. This can help narrow down any possibilities on medications taken.

Space meds throughout the day is another suggestion if the dog is given all of them at once until you can speak with the vet and learn otherwise.

Parvo can take several weeks to recover from. Your dog should be making some progress each day. Keep in touch with your vet, especially if you think the dog is getting worse.

I would be very concerned that he is not drinking. Dehydration is a big problem with parvo. Between the diarrhea and vomiting they can dehydrate quickly. If you can take him to the emergency Vet that would be ideal. You can also syringe pedialyte in small amounts into his mouth.

Keeping him hydrated really helps. Many folks take their puppy for intravenous fluid treatment daily. You need to let your Vet know if there are any changes in your puppys condition. Your best bet when your Vet is not available is a trip to the emergency Vet. Good luck to you.

I know it is hard to handle and the vet is treating the dog. In some cases the dog needs to stay at the vets for up to a week to be treated there. I had to leave my dog at the vets for a week when he got really sick with Parvo. You are doing all your can and recovery time can be very long and painful for you and the animal.

If you are still worried about the dog I would call the vet again and let them know that the dog is not improving and find out if they want you to bring him in again. Normally after a few days with the fluids and meds you should see some improvement.
