Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 221 Posts

The finished candlesticks.I had four chair legs left from a previous craft project (posted on Thriftyfun a few months ago). Rather than discard them, I made them into candlestick holders.

Total Time: 90 minutes

Yield: 4

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. First, I cut two of the four chairs legs shorter than the height of the other two chair legs. Then, I cut a circular piece of wood to fit onto top of chair leg which had been turned upside down and attached it with a screw in the middle. Then, I primed the chair legs before painting.
  2. Cutting a circle for the top of the candlestick.

Adding tops to the chair legs.

  3. Next, I painted the chair legs with a brown paint but you can use whatever colored you want. I wanted something neutral. Let dry completely.
  4. Painting the chair leg brown.

  5. Then, using a sponge, I dipped the sponge into a lighter color of paint and dabbed it all over. This gave it an antique, marbled look. Let dry completely.
  6. Adding a lighter paint to the chair legs.

  7. Varnish and let dry.
  8. The finished candlesticks.
