I like making vases and cupholders from plastic bottles. Cutting and placing the neck of the bottle upside down into the base of the bottle makes it so you can fill the vase without it tipping over. Simply place your pens or flowers in the middle and they will center by weight. The textured look is made by ripping up paper napkins and gluing them on. I love ombre looks so I used two paint colours to achieve this blue gradient.
Total Time: 1 hour plus dry time

Supplies:
- 1 plastic bottle
- scissors or serrated knife
- hot glue gun with glue
- white glue
- water
- plastic container
- paintbrush
- paper napkins
- acrylic paints
Steps:
- Cut off the top third and bottom third of your plastic bottle.
- Place the top part upside down into the bottom part and hot glue shut from the inner lip.
- To make homemade Mod Podge, put some white glue in a plastic container (I used the bottom of another plastic bottle) and add a tiny bit of water. Mix well.
- Unfold a paper napkin or two so it's 1-ply. Rip into pieces.
- This is where we start decoupaging. Paint dabs of the glue mixture onto the bottle and attach single layers of the napkin pieces.
- Cover the entire thing, then brush a coat of the glue on top.
- Allow to dry fully. It will start looking mostly translucent when it's done.
- Paint your darker colour on the bottom half using a tap-dabbing motion with your brush so you can fill in all the textured crevices.
- Add your lighter colour on the top half.
- To achieve the ombre effect, brush the middle section so the two colours blend together. Allow to dry, then place your pens, brushes, or flowers in the middle of the vase.
