Recycled Plastic Bag Rugs and Bleacher Pads

As a Girl Scout leader for 13 years, we made "sit-upons". Make them whatever size you need, as bottoms are not all the same size. We cut a large rectangle from a flannel-backed table cloth, so that when folded over itself, it was the desired size. We used 2 strands of heavy yarn or twine and a large eyed tapestry needle that would accommodate threading with the yarn/twine. We used a hole punch around 3 edges of the table cloth, and spaced the holes 1 1/2 to 2 inches apart. Do a simple lashing stitch around 2 edges and tie a knot at the corner...don't cut the yarn yet. The third (open) edge is where you slip in your "stuffing".

Some used multiple sheets of newspaper(cheap/free), some used a few layers of quilt batting, and some used poly fiberfill(stuffing). Once you've added your "stuffing of choice", lash closed that last side, then tie several knots at the corner. Take several strands of yarn/twine, OR a length of rope and tie on a handle for ease of carrying it. They are great for sitting almost anywhere, including the ground. And since they are a somewhat heavy plastic, they're waterproof and pretty much indestructible. Mine lasted the whole 13 years of use.
