Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 105 Posts This is a great project to use up some art supplies you purchased for Christmas. A snow and heart vase is the perfect way to give the gift of love this Valentine's Day. The vase looks great displayed on your table. Just add some roses and give the gift of love to your loved ones, friends, or family.
Total Time: 4 to 6 hours
Yield: 1 vase
Supplies:
- 1 vase or recycled bottle
- white acrylic paint
- red acrylic paint
- varnish
- wood glue
- glitter gel
- paintbrushes
- sponge
- fake flowers
- green raffia
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- fake snow
- marker
Steps:
- You can make this vase from a recycled bottle or find a vase that you like at any Dollar store. Before starting the project make sure you wash and clean your bottle or vase.
- Apply a layer of white acrylic paint to the outside of the bottle or vase first.
- Mix a little of your red paint in with the white paint to make pink. Apply the color to the vase or bottle and allow it to dry.
- Take your marker and draw your design on the bottle. If you are having a problem drawing the hearts it is a good idea to cut them out of paper first then trace them onto the bottle.
- Lay the bottle down and apply some wood glue to the area on the bottle that does not have your design. Use your paintbrush to spread the glue out and avoid getting glue on your design.
- Take the fake snow and sprinkle it over the glue on the bottle or vase. Use your hands or fingers to press this in place. Now stand the bottle up and shake off the excess snow. Continue on like this until you have the bottle covered. Allow this to dry before moving on to the next step. If you are in a hurry, use your hairdryer to speed up the drying time.
- Now paint the hearts on your bottle with your red paint. Allow these to dry.
- Use the glitter gel to paint the hearts applying a nice layer of glitter gel to the hearts. Allow this to dry.
- You will now apply a coat of varnish to the vase before completing the project. You can varnish the fake snow on the vase it will not hurt this at all.
- Use your hot glue gun to wrap the neck of the vase with your green raffia. Add your flower or other decorations to the bottle. The bottle is now ready to give as a gift or display in your home.
