Remedy for Cuticles Damaged by Nail Biting?

Remedy for Cuticles Damaged by Nail Biting - a person's hand showing nails and cuticlesI have been biting my nails for almost a decade and now I want to grow them out. To break the habit, I had extensions done, but my cuticles are still in bad shape. Due to nail biting they have risen up and detached from my nail and every time I use a cuticle trimmer they bleed and get worse. What should I do to get them back to normal?

What I do to keep my cuticles soft is to rub my finger across my lips after applying lip balm and apply the excess to the cuticles. It will keep them from cracking, just like it does for lips.

Another tip I see often is to use coconut oil.

Good luck! I'm sure your hands will be perfect in no time as long as you can stop biting them.

Essential Oils- applied to cuticles and nails. Jojoba oil, orange oil, avocado oil, and Tea Tree oil. The best of these is Tea tree oil, it moisturizes and repairs damaged cuticles with the best results from nature!

If you have this much damage the best way to fix it is to soak your fingernails in a moisturizer than then apply coconut oil to the damaged area.

Your cuticles are actually there to protect you, so cutting them is probably making it worse. Soak them in mild, warm soapy water, dry and apply coconut oil or cuticle oil every few days.

Number one suggestion: stop cutting your cuticles and do not let anyone trim them when applying nails.
Soak your nails in warm soapy water or even moisturizer several times a week. A nail manicure soak tray is a good investment for this treatment. You can buy inexpensive trays or an electric model but either one works. Here is an example but these are sold in many stores or nail supply shops.
