How can I get rid of black circles under my eyes?
Seemafahim from Pakistan
Dark circles under the eyes is normally caused by too much sugar intake, so maybe try to limit the amount of sugar/sucrose/fructose that you eat or drink. Just an idea. I know that I usually get them after I eat a lot of junk food. :)
Note: The results wouldn't be immediate (compared to an eye cream, etc.), but it would cure the dark circles completely if you continually monitor your dietary intake of sugars. (02/19/2009)

When you rub your eyes with your fists, be very gentle. Pulling the skin hard by rubbing it hard helps make that area baggy. If you press a finger for several seconds on the dark area and then take your finger away, notice that the dark area is lighter? The dark color is from blood vessels, veins, swollen and showing through your skin. You can hide the color by painting it with makeup or you can shrink the veins with cold but nothing helps for long. Thanks for posting, I have those too. (02/20/2009)
Below are the causes of dark eye circles listed on the Mayo Clinic web site. Probably best to narrow down which category(s) are most likely the cause of your circles and then figure out what will work best for you. If you think it's medical, contact your doctor for advice. If you think yours are caused by heredity or skin pigmentation, a light application of appropriate makeup will be your best bet. If you think yours are caused by fatigue, give yourself more rest/sleep ;-) Hope this helps :-)
Allergies
Atopic dermatitis (eczema)
Fatigue
Heredity - dark under-eye circles can run in families
Lifestyle factors, such as smoking and drinking alcohol and caffeinated sodas
Nasal congestion (which dilates and darkens the veins that drain from your eyes to your nose)
Pigmentation irregularities - these are a particular concern for people of color, especially blacks and Asians
Sun exposure, which prompts your body to produce more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color
Thinning skin and loss of fat and collagen - common as you age - which make the reddish-blue blood vessels under your eyes more obvious. (02/21/2009)

I HIGHLY recommend ANEW FORCE EXTRA Eye Cream AM or PM 427-112 by AVON. You literally see the skin renew in front of your eyes! I was at a demo of this product and purchased it on the spot.

I have dark circles under my eyes as well and I have heard that drinking lots of water can reduce the darkness. For me it's largely a hereditary thing so if that's the case their isn't too much that could be done about it other than trying to hide it under make-up. (04/16/2009)
