I was in the hospital this week with a hip replacement. I had gotten all dressed to come home and the student nurse removed the IV from my arm. Next thing we knew, the gauze was soaked with blood and blood was running down my arm. A big drop fell on my shirt. The Physical Therapy lady told me to spit on it. The enzymes in my spit would help to take it out. I did it and the blood spot immediately thinned and spread out which made the blood easy to wash out that night. I had never heard of doing this.
As far as the hip replacement, I'm doing great and hope to be back getting my walking exercise in a few weeks. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying all the attention that I'm getting here at home.

So glad you are doing well. I hope you will be back to normal (or better) in no time.
I have heard about the saliva trick before. Usually, I use hydrogen peroxide for blood stains but this is great for emergencies.
Thanks Jess. I going to do it and will be able to kick a football before long, I hope.
Cover the fresh blood with dry salt, leave it to absorb the blood, then wash straight away. If the blood has dried but still red, cover with dry salt and drip water to wet the salt, not wash away, this will redampen the blood also.
Nice tip to remember.
Glad to hear you have this behind you and getting lots of attention.
I'm sure you will soon be back 'litter' gathering and cooking all those great homey dishes.
I sure do hope so. That's my passion.
I feel sure some of us have been through the same type of operation or something similar so I know for sure that it is no fun but since you are such a robust healthy person I feel sure you will have a short 'recovery' period.
Thank you. I'm going through physical therapy and they are giving me a good work out plus I'm doing the exercises at home as well. No pain, no gain. I'm getting there.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Thank you Judy. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Please be careful and stay well. Wear your mask.
Prayers for healing!! Thanks for the tip too!! May G-d bless you and heal you quickly and fully!!
Thank you so much. Please keep praying for me. My legs and feet are swollen but that is to be expected after hip replacement surgery. I would like to know how long the swelling will last.
My friend had surgery on her feet last year and again this year. I think her swelling lasted about a month but perhaps feet take longer as they tend to swell anyhow.
Take it easy and don't push too hard. I'm hoping your swelling is down by Christmas. Sending you all my best thoughts.
Thank you Jess.
