You can use a wet pumice stone and make sure you rub gently.
-- If the bowl has water in it, bail it out (or turn off the water supply and flush).
-- Put a cup of WHITE VINEGAR into the toilet bowl. Swish it around with the brush so it gets to every area in the bowl. Alternatively, using a spray bottle, cover the interior of the bowl with white vinegar.
Good luck!
Try about 2 cups of white distilled vinegar. Pour into bowl and let sit for an hour. Then sprinkle in about 1/2 cup of baking soda. It should start to bubble and foam. Let that sit for about 10 minutes, brush the bowl, then flush. If the stains are really bad, you may need to repeat a couple times.
Borax is great at multipurpose cleaning, especially on really tough stains. A mixture with vinegar only makes it better.
- Add about a cup of borax into the toilet bowl.
- Add some vinegar right over the borax.
- Gently scrub the toilet. Let sit for 15 minutes and flush the look as you scrub again.
For those really stubborn stains, a borax paste should do the trick.
Brown stains are a sign of lime buildup. It happens because of the evaporation of hard water that leaves behind mineral deposits. These minerals dry out and catch other dirt and bacteria around the buildup, creating layers of brown stains.
Baking Soda and Vinegar will help you to remove stains.
Don't use bleach in the toilet bowl. It won't work on the stains and can damage a septic system.
Never mix bleach and ammonia. The resulting fumes can irritate respiratory passages and can even be fatal.
Don't scrub with anything metal or super-abrasive. You'll ruin the porcelain.
