Removing Cigarette Smoke Odor on Suede Fringe Jacket?

honestly I turn my suede fringe jacket inside out and put a heavy amount of fabric softner in a small load for the delicate cycle of the washer and give it ago. i only leave in water for maybe 10 min. let it run threw the spin turn it right side out straighten it out to look "normal" and hang it in bathroom to get. keep in mind my jacket is at minimum 25 years olds and doesn't have a thick inner liner I have only done this method twice once when my dad gave it to me (it was his or my mom's they had matching Brown suede fringe jackets lol) and the second time was when I quit smoking.

it has kept shape, luster and the integrity of the suede. This goes against everything we are told but when I called a leather cleaner they wanted a hundred to do it and i am poor and broke emphasis on both those terms. Please use you r own discretion to decide if this method wiuld work for you. i wish I had a pic with me so I could show u how good it still looks.
