How do I remove cigarette residue and odor off walls without removing paint and without leaving a chemical odor? The residue is a result of one year of smoking.

Sorry that no one answered your question. This may be difficult to answer because we do not know what type of paint was used on your walls but I have a link to a very good site that has some easy to read instructions and also deals with the question about painted walls. Most of the suggestions will leave an odor but it will go away in several hours.

The easiest way of removing smoke stains off walls without scrubbing is just using Windex.Just spray on the wall and let the Windex run down the wall and wipe.

Lowes sells a product called Greased Lightening. Spray it on and wipe with paper towels. Buy a big bundle and that way you only have to sponge over when you are done and not every other minute.

It is amazing and doesn't not hurt the walls. Works on ceramic things too.
