This afternoon my teenage son came home after helping a friend paint his grandmothers fence frantic because he got white paint on his bright purple name brand pants. I told him I didn't think there was anything we could do, but of course mama had to try. I went to my old go to impossible stain remover and voila, worked like a charm so I knew I had to share! I used 91% rubbing alcohol & a little patience. I work in small sections applying enough alcohol to lightly saturate the area & then I blot it with a clean towel (rag). There no color fading or piling!

I had my favorite white t-shirt on and I got some blue paint on my collar. I then by mistake put it with the laundry and I'm not too sure how to get it off, does anybody know how? Thanks.

Normally everyone will tell you it can not be taken out and for the most part that is the way it is, except for this one little product that has been around for over one hundred years. It is called," Sav-a-Brush" made by Red Devil Paint. It is no longer sold in stores and must be ordered directly.

It is a powder you add to water and soak your clothes in. Made for painters when throwing away drop cloths or painter's overalls were just plain not done. It costs about $2.99 Order at Red Devil Paint.com or call 1 800-423-3845 ext 3036

If it is water color or latex, you can try using a little dawn dish soap on a white rag (with a white rag behind the stain) and gently massage it out. Again, try it in an inside place first to make sure it doesn't bleed.

With the latex paint first try to gently peel the paint off if it is a big blob).

If it is an oil based paint most likely it will not come out. You can try a drop of Murphy oil soap or turpentine on a Q tip (do this in an inside place first to make sure it doesn't take the color from the wool). If it doesn't bleed the color, put a white rag behind the stain and gently rub the damp tip against the stain. It may take several times. I have never been successful with this...but some people have. Depends on the size of the stain and how long it has set.

Best of luck!! Paint is tough to remove!

I would use mild soap and warm water.

There are several things that will determine if you can successfully remove this paint (Pghgirl covered almost everything).

What type of care your label indicates will be a very big factor; if it says dry clean only I would recommend taking it to a cleaners and see if they can help you.

If it is washable, it will state washing machine or hand laundry only and usually water temperature. Hopefully you have washed it successfully before and know how to dry it properly.

Be sure you always use laundry products that are recommended for wool.

You just say woolen top so is this a sweater (knit) type or flat wool top?
A knit top may be very difficult as the fibers are usually loosely knitted and stains just seem to sink all the way through. You may have to use a cotton swab with whatever suggestion you use.

Some recommend using alcohol but any type of cleaner should be tested on the reverse without rubbing if possible. Sometimes after soaking for a few minutes the paint may lift off with a blunt knife or spoon. Every motion has to be gentle.

You can read some suggestions on this site but be sure you know what type of paint as well as all particulars about your garment before trying anything.
