Removing Dye from a White Dress with a Pattern?

Removing Dye from a White Dress with a PatternI have a toddler dress that is white and has colored hearts on it. It is cotton and polyester. I want to know how to remove the color and just make it all white. I'm hoping to be able to use it for my daughter's Halloween costume. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

I don't think it's possible to make it white. It may be possible to make it all black.

I was trying to make it white for a Marilyn Monroe costume and this dress was the perfect style for it. I'll just have to improvise and find another dress. Thank you. Have a good day!

Printed color:

  1. I don't personally think this will work but you can try this.
  2. Mix equal parts of ammonia and dish detergent together in a small plastic tub.

  4. Soak the dress in the tub to see if it will remove the color.
  5. You might try to add some bleach to the dress fabric and see if the color will fade.
  6. I'd be careful with bleach being on thre too long because this can harm the threads in the dress and cause it to rip or tear easily.
  7. Other than this I personally don't see a way to do this because the material came printed like this. The dye is woven into the fabric.

Thank you. I was trying to use it for a Marilyn Monroe dress for Halloween, and this was the perfect style. But my husband said the same thing about not being able to get it out because it was made that way.

Just soak in javex and water.Use 1 cup of javex you want it strong enough to remove the color.Wear a mask to protect your lungs.Just enough water to cover the dress.
