I have a number of pieces of clothing from my mom that don't fit her anymore. I would like to recycle them. She has iron on name tags on them from the nursing home. Does anyone know how to remove these tags, without damaging the material?

Put wax paper right over the patch, then iron it (on high) for 10 seconds or so. Begin peeling the patch off.

Use a dry iron set on medium heat. Cover the label with parchment paper and iron over it. The label and glue should come off.
You do not say what area the tags are located but usually these are placed on the inside back so these may be easier to remove than one placed on the outside of a garment.
If you are donating this clothing, you can save yourself some time by NOT removing the labels. I discovered myself that you can take q-tips and nail polish remover and carefully rub out your mom's name so it can't be seen without damaging the clothing.
