My jacket was in the basement and has a mildew smell. How do I get rid of the smell?

My son has a new pair of black nubuck (suede-like) shoes that were stored and now have mildew spots. We cleaned off the mildew but the spots do not go away. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Get a bit of dish wash soap and water and put it inside a cup. Put it in but don't let the water turn the color of the soap

Over the summer, a suede jacket got mildew on the front while stored in a back bedroom closet. If anyone knows how to remove mildew from suede, please let me know! The jacket has been worn only a couple of times.
Get a sturdy hanger and hang that baby outside in the sunshine (several days -weather permitting) Dont worry about fading..it'd have to be out there for weeks for that to happen. Later brush it with a suede brush (comes in kits at walmart in the shoe section) or if you have an old boar bristle brush that would work too.
