Removing Nail Polish From a Sweater

Does any one have any suggestions for removing burgundy colored nail polish from a light blue sweater?

Try fingernail polish remover and try to brush it off instead of rubbing it. Hand wash that spot right after and launder as usual. (04/04/2005)

I would first try non-acetone fingernail polish remover. The acetone type might damage the sweater if it has polyester in it. (04/08/2005)

You can remove it by using Motsenbocker's Liftoff #3. We tried it on our cotton quilt and the stain just vanished, like magic! You can purchase it on-line or at The Home Depot for about $6. It also works on carpets, countertops and floors, and tile. I removes permanent marker stains, as well. It is waterbased and biodegradable. No strong chemicals like acetone. (08/07/2005)
