I spilled nail polish remover on my mom's dining table (finished wood). What can I use other than the hot iron and towel? I can't go out and buy anything.

Oh no! Hopefully you were able to blot as much off the table in the smallest way possible without spreading it.
From there, definitely consult your mom on what DIY techniques you may want to try , or if its a valuable table a professional may have to come out to fix it.
Depends on the damage but hopefully this forum could help you:
Good luck!
Do not use acetone nail polish remover as it will pull off the finish. First carefully use a credit card or other plastic thing edge item to very carefully try to get up the bigger chunks. Then wipe with a damp cloth. If you still have residue try a dit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and very lightly go over it. Do not press.
Hopefully that will do it. If it stained the wood you may need to have it professionally refaced.
