Removing Odor from Rubber Treaded Stairs?

I bought a house with rubber treads on the stairs that go down to the basement. There is an odor I don't like. How can I remove this odor in a non-toxic way?

Get a product called Nok-Out. You can get it on amazon.

For anything rubber, I'd use a diluted white vinegar spray, allow it to sit, then wipe them off. Should help greatly.
