I need to remove the back cover of my Singer 3827 so that I can replace the spool holder and pin. I've tried unscrewing the obvious parts on the back cover, but couldn't seem to get the cover off. Is there a trick to this?

Mine also has screws on the bottom. Did you look there?
Mine has screws on the top and side. See if you can download a manual for your machine. A lot of them are free.
I hope you have solved your problem but in case you need help in the future here is a link to Singer support. You can call or send your question by email and they will definitely help you. I did not see a manual for your machine but they may have one that is close to the same. Their manuals are usually free to download so I would ask about a manual for sure.
