Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are excellent for something like this. There are other brands now too and they can be found at most stores that carry cleaning supplies. You just wet the sponge a little and with a little elbow grease rub off the paint or stain. If there is a thicker spot of paint that rubbing won't get, a razor blade used at an angle that will not gouge the table works to scrape it off too.
The Mr. Clean Magic eraser will probably work.
I have had success with nail polish remover as well.
