Removing Stains of a White T-shirt?

So I have this white lace shirt, but my sister didn't read the directions. It said 'hang dry', so it dried with my other clothes and now it's white with big spot of pink. I used Oxi-Clean the stain remover one and it barely takes out the stains, what should I do?

Fill a 5 gallon pail with very hot tap water. Add 2 T each hydrogen peroxide and powdered dishwasher detergent. Soak overnight and machine wash in the morning. This got rid of pink dye on my daughters white cotton tank top.

Use a laundry bleach pen on the spot to remove or launder with bleach in washer if top is all white.

Drying clothes in the drier (especially on hot) usually "sets" stains and makes it very difficult to work them out.

  • It is possible the spot got on the shirt during the wash and not the dryer?

  • You do not say what type of material but you do say and hang dry which usually means material is not cotton.
  • It is more difficult to remove set-in stains from materials other than cotton and most suggestions will probably be for cotton or at least a cotton blend.
  • Check what type of material and use caution when trying any solution that does not say it will be safe to use on your type material.
  • You might try a paste of baking soda and water on the spot and let it set for 30-45 minutes before rinsing off. Wash on gentle in cold or warm water - never hot and see if that will work.
  • If you have a safe place to lay it in the sun you might try pouring plain water on the spot and leave it in the sunshine all day (or more). Just keep wetting the spot (plain water) and let the sun draw out the color. Be sure it is safe from overhead birds and it can be left outside overnight as dew and sun removes spots also.

  • Be sure it will not blow away. Weigh it down on corners with something that will not stain.
  • Something else you may want to try; look in Walmart type stores (or on-line) for a product called "color-grabber". There are several brands and it is usually found in the "cleaners" section of any of these stores.
  • Any brand should work and just follow directions on the package and it should remove the spot.

I found mine at Wal-Mart, but go to store and purchase a bar of soap called Zote. (We call it Mexican soap, not prejudice at all! Only cuz it is a Mexico product)? Anyways this stuff is the BEST! Use with hottest water u can stand. Get the stain really wet even soak it if u wanna. The scrub area with the car of soap to apply the soap. Then get a good brush w/ stiff brissels. Scrub the stain in circles to work in the soap change directions keep applying hot water and soap if needed.

Some stains take more work than other. U can even shave the soap with a cheese grater and apply it to ur washing machine or even shave it and add ut to hit water in a jug and shake shake shake to make a ready to use laundry retreated.pretreater. I use this soap on EVERYTHING. shoes clothes carpet walls. U will b amazed. Good luck. The soap is super cheap. I paid less than $2 fir it at wall Mart . its in the laundry soap section in a little box. Usually up on top shelf. ?? Lol
