Removing Stains on Linoleum

I have linoleum floors in bathroom. I have a black stain on some of the linoleum behind the door and other places. I have tried Comet, vinegar, paint thinner, and regular cleaning products. The stain hasn't budged. What can I do? Thanks.

Have you tried the Mr. Clean eraser sponges? (10/01/2010)

If it is from tar or from black soled shoes baby oil will remove it. (10/01/2010)

Are you sure it's not just the black color that is under the layer of color in the linoleum? If so (or if nothing else works) maybe you could paint it. Since it's in an inconspicuous place that won't get that much wear, it could last for a long time. (10/01/2010)

If you have or have had any flooring moisture problems that is a permanent stain that has seeped up from the bottom to the top of the linoleum and there is no remedy other than replacing or painting with the correct type of paint and then using a sealer. (10/01/2010)
