But if you intend to remove stamps to use later then you should know it is illegal to remove and reuse stamps on mail that has been through the USPS system.
If it went through the mail and wasn't cancelled, it is illegal to remove for reuse.

If you just messed up the envelope after it was stamped, best to ask your post office to exchange it.
If it is to collect the stamp, hold it over a tea kettle to steam it off. Carefully remove with a tweezers.
According to the law it is illegal to do this. You are not allowed to remove the stamps that have been delivered to you. However, if you made an envelope and did not mail it to the person I would check with the post office and see if they will replace the stamps for you. If you just want to collect stamps steam is the best way to remove them.
People steam them off with steam from a teakettle. It is against the law to use them again for sending letters, since they were already used.
I brought the envelope and stamp to the post office with me and had them exchange it. It may vary depending on your location.
Maybe steaming them, will loosen the glue!
