I bought some nice clear plastic insulated mugs at a garage sale with a price sticker on the top where you would put your mouth to drink. I soaked them in warm soapy water and the label surface came right off, but there is a film and fine residue that won't come off. What you do suggest?

Try my homemade Goo Gone recipe:

Just mix baking soda with melted coconut oil (vegetable oil works, too) and rub on the sticky part.
Use your blow dryer to soften the glue and peel off
I just use a little mayonnaise on the gooey stuff, wash the glass or mug in hot soapy water and it's good to go.
Peanut butter (only use this if you are NOT allergic to peanuts!) works really good to get sticker residue off of plastic. Just rub a dab over the sticker residue and let set a little while.
Goo gone or put an ice cube on it, get it very cold then scrape it off.
Goo Gone works really well for removing sticky residue from many items. It's sold at Walmart and comes in a squirt bottle.
