You don't say how old your car is. If it is still under warranty, I would ask the dealer what to do, as you could invalidate any warranty you have on the car's paint if you tried an unauthorized treatment. Even if it is older, the dealership can tell you what works best for your paint type and color. It is more challenging to remove the spots from a darker color car, so they can tell you the tried and true!

The first question would be - how long have the water spots been on the car? This is very important as it is possible the "spots" have already slightly damaged the paint.
- Paint color will also determine what to use and how to use it.
- Anyone can say; "use this or that" but without specific instructions on how to use a solution you could do even more damage to your paint.
- Also, I do not think you should consider using "clay" as this is not clay as seen in the ground but a very special clay bar made to use in a special way when trying to remove spots and other similar damage to cars & boats.
- You can find a large assortment of products at your local auto parts store and most of these are very good and have very specific instructions on how to use.
- Believe me when I say - you can make big mistakes with using products on your paint without following instructions to the "T".
- Auto store products will also have listed what products are best for different colors.
- If you still wish to try this yourself (maybe an older car?) then you can ask your question on Google and see how many different ways it can be done.
- You can use vinegar & water but it should be distilled water or the water you use may just add spots. There are certain procedures to follow even with that simple formula.
- Here is one site that has several DIY solutions so check this first and then decide if you want to go further. Also, be prepared to wax your car after you finish so that hopefully you will not have this same problem in the future.

I did not mean to imply that suggestions to use DIY home remedies do not work, I only meant that you need to be careful about how they are used on your car as some solutions can do damage to paint if not applied properly.
