As you can probably tell by my name, I love Son of Mars sneakers. My favorite pair is a grey, gold, white and blue mix. To get the mold off, I suggest getting conditioner or cleanser, water, a rag, and a toothbrush. Also have vinegar and straight bleach. Use the rag to apply the cleaner or conditioner to the mold, then scrub the mold off with a toothbrush. After this procedure is done twice, wipe shoes down with rag and alcohol wipes. Apply windex to shoes then scrub with toothbrush again. Let them sit in the sun after blowdrying them thoroughly. After they are dry, coat the soles in clear nailpolish to prevent further mold or creases.

I use Lysol disinfectant spray (or generic equivalent) to remove mold from shoes. First I spray the soles liberally with the spray, then the surfaces of the shoes, with particular attention to any mold spots. Let it dry on the edge of the tub for 24 hours, then groom the shoes as you normally do; i.e., brush the nap of nubuck or suede shoes, polish leather shoes or just wipe other shoes with a damp rag.
Have you ever used a Alyson Disinfectant Wipe to remove mold on a leather shoe (& even a tight, braided type shoe - close weave huarache) & did it leave any discoloration on the leather? I'm curious because my apartment roof had a leak I was unaware of & found mold on some of my leather shoes - even those stored in so-called airtight plastic containers.
I have these converse sneakers that have had orange spotted mold on the sides for over 10 years. How can I get it off properly?
