Removing a Dye Transfer on Polyester Top?

I have a neon yellow exercise top that was damp and I guess it picked up blue color from what it was laying on before it was washed. It is 92% poly/8% elastane. I didn't realize this until I took it out of the dryer. I really like this top and have tried several things to get the color run out. I have used stain remover, vinegar, cleaner w/bleach, cleaner w/oxi, Fels-Naptha bar, and now it is sitting with Comet on the spots. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

It may not come out since you dried it. You can try this:

Step 1
Fill a 5 gallon pail with hot tap water

Step 2
Add 2T each hydrogen peroxide and dishwasher powder

Step 3
Soak overnight

Step 4
Wash as usual in the morning

Rit dye makes a color remover that might work. It will most likely lighten the yellow too, but you could then re-dye the top. Look for it in Walmart or craft stores. Best of luck to you!

Poly is really hard to get dye transfers from. Sounds like you have tried all of my usual go tos.

It may be off the wall, but I have had a few pieces that I had similar issues with (casual items) that I went with the dye transfer and made tie dye items with them. The tee shirts have always turned out cute...you never would know that it was because of a mistake.

Sadly the sweater I tried this with was an epic fail...but either way it was destined for the rag bag, so I had to try.

Wishing you all the best!

Polyester is very difficult to work with because it is a synthetic.
Since you have tried everything else why not try just plain old sunshine...
Place item in sunshine (lay it out on a clean cloth or towel), wet the stain and just let it be for a day or so. Keep putting water on the stain and let the sunshine dry it. Even leave it out overnight if possible as the dew also helps.

Some people sprinkle a layer of salt and then dampen the item but if you try this, I would turn item inside out and put salt on the inside of garment.
