My grandson glued a trophy to my desk I suppose using Elmer's glue. How do I get it off without damaging the finish?

Find some sort of solvnt that does not damage your finish. You can do a test sample and see if it keeps or damages the finish
Use a blow dryer to heat this glue. Then carefully remove and scrape off as much as possible with a scraper. Put several layers of cloth and press with a hot dry iron to remove the rest. Change the cloth often
