Like an idiot I placed the can of water based polyurethane on a part of the floor I wasn't working on and it left a mark. Any suggestions or thoughts on what I can do with this would be greatly appreciated.

You could apply a stripper on the floor. Instructions are here. www.doityourself.com/
You can try mineral spirits and this method...but this can be a challenge and sometimes can cause more issues. Whatever you do test it in a VERY TINY spot before proceeding.

You can get the mineral spirits at most big hardware/home stores, at least in the US. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY as this is a chemical and can be dangerous if used improperly.
It may be worth it to call in a professional to fix this.
Good luck!!
I would use a lightweight sandpaper and sand around this area some and apply the polyurethane on the floor again to cover up this mark. Might be the easiest way to go about this one.
Thanks folks for your input. Mineral spirits along with a lot of scrubbing got most of it out.
