Removing an Ammonia Stain on Car Paint?

Removing an Ammonia Stain on Car PaintDoes anyone have an idea of how to remove what seems to be an ammonia stain from car paint? I say it's ammonia because I found an empty ammonia bottle not to far from my car.

I would ask the dealer for their recommendations. This could be made so much worse with home remedies. Cars are one thing I learned to not use online solutions for. Post back with an update on this!

Hello, thank you for your comment. The day before I noticed the splatter on my car I had gone grocery shopping and parked under a carport, it was raining and water leaking on my vehicle so at this point I am not sure if it was that or the ammonia that caused the stain but I searched online *I know, I know* and found a YT video on how to remove chemical spills and hard water stains from vehicle paint with oil based citrus degreaser, decided to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised... I applied the degreaser (goo gone) on a soft microfiber cloth and rubbed gently in a circular motion, wiped it off then took my car for a wash and it was completely gone!

A very quick answer:
I would not try anything before asking a very knowledgeable paint person as you could very easily do more damage - maybe worse.

You might try asking at some of your local auto parts stores; especially the foreign parts stores. They generally have all products for cleaning metal so someone might know about this.
Also, you might ask a car detailer/cleaner in your area as they see all kinds of stains in their business.

A dealership will probably only recommend a new paint job but this is what you may have to have.

If you have to have it painted your insurance may cover it if this was an act of vandalism.

Not knowing what this really is and guessing it is ammonia is not a good thing at all. In order to save the paint on your car you should get some help from a professional detailer or paint and body shop.

They will know what it is and can fix this and buff out the paint. I really wouldn't try this on your own unless your car is very old and the paint is not so wonderful.
