I want to run out of this rental home! So many bugs I have found, but landlord refuses to admit that there is an issue. Okay I know there are 1000 things I have photos of. I am renting a home in Florida, just me and my child. We noticed stains in the carpet (thought she dropped something), now the stains are everywhere. The carpet is 15 yrs old.
The landlord never has had pest control in the home or the lawn. She would not replace the carpet or provide pest control unless she increases the rent a few hundred a month. My fear was bedbugs, but I can't match a photo to anything. Two palm trees had to be cut down down, one landed on the home. Carpet beetles? Springbugs? Mites? The Homeowner calls it cosmetic. The toilets have what looks like black bugs all under rim, all under sinks, and in window frames. Mulch surrounds the house.
My child and I have been laying down sheets and they keep appearing; if she takes a bath they are there! My child does have bite marks all over. Fleas were ruled out.

Oh my. This seems very serious.
My suggestion is to contact HUD and your local state senator. Here is HUD info:
What town are you in? I can help you figure out who your senator is.
One regular poster here, cybergrannie is from FLA so hopefully she can get you more specific information.
You really need to contact a health inspector. I have head people call the landloards like this slum loards and they do not care about their property. I would go a step further and maybe contact your local news station and see if they could do a report on this. Nobody should be forced to live in conditions like this and a landlord that is unwilling to fix up their home.
Bugs can be a problem in Florida but no one should have to live under the conditions you describe.
Since there is a child involved you should be able to get immediate assistance from your local Family Services center.
You may have to be very strong to present all of this to someone but you can always contact your area representatives and ask for help.
You will probably have to make an appointment to visit their office so be prepared with all your 'evidence' and take your child with you if possible.

It is probably best to not discuss your plans with your landlord as they may try to do a few patch-up jobs but probably not what you need.
Services may suggest you move into a controlled home/apartment which may be better for you.
You should start this process as soon as possible.
definitely contact all the organizations listed elsewhere
meanwhile, for a bit of self help you can try to acquire boric acid and diatomaceious earth. These two substances are very inexpensive and do a terrific job of destroying just about every insect out there with a minimal effect on humans (save in application wear a mask so as to not breathe in particles)
