Repair Appliances Instead of Upgrading

Upgrading seems to be the latest catchword when replacing appliances. Do so with caution as all the major appliances are coming out of China. They are not of the quality as when US made. My appliance repairman will vouch for that as he's busier than ever now.

My 20 year old US made refrigerator wasn't working right so I went shopping. Every refrigerator seemed substandard to mine. Considering the outlay I was facing, I decided to throw a few hundred into my existing fridge if that would fix it. It was a $50 part plus labor and travel for a total cost of $130. If I tire of the beige color I can always sand it and paint it another color for less than $20.

My newer washer and dryer aren't of the quality of the previous set either. Had I known that, I'd have had the washer fixed instead of replacing the set.
