Repairing Bottom Tension on a Janome New Home Mc 7500?

I need to find a way to repair my Janome New Home Mc7500. It sews great on medium weight, but when I sew on sheer curtains it seems to gather the fabric. I noticed the bobbin tension is very tight to the point of breaking! How do I fix this?

It has been in the shop and I was told the bobbin case needed to be replaced, but since the machine is so old the parts aren't available. I did find a new bobbin and face plate. The machine is still doing the same thing. Can anyone help me to find a fix? I don't have the money to purchase a new machine!

From fixya: If your bobbin is in a case there is a little screw on the side that will tighten the plates and increase the tension. Test your thread coming out of the case as you slowly make adjustments to the screw. A slight bit of resistance is what you want.

If your sewing still puckers you may have to loosen the tension on the top. Sew on a scrap and go toward the smaller numbers to loosen the top tension until the stitches meet between the two layers of fabric.

Too thin of a needle will not efficiently penetrate heavy fabric. Go for a heavier gauge needle.

Your tension may need adjusting or even cleaning (if the repair service did not clean it) but you may be trying to use the wrong size needle as sheer fabric needs a different needle.

Here is a link to the manual for your machine and needle information is on page 27.
If you are still having problems I would suggest you call a Janome dealer in your area (they should help you with something this simple) or try any of your craft stores as they all usually know people with old and new machines. Try Michael's or Jo Ann's.
