I have a living room and partial dining room with three consecutive outlets out of service. One is a set of switches for several lights including one outside light. The outside light burnt out and no longer works. When I push the switch up or down, it causes a need for the breaker to be reset.
Then I have two connected outlets that are no longer working. One is near the panel of switches. It went out after too many connections were made, overloading the outlet. It then stopped working permanently. The other one is in an adjacent room which also stopped working after connecting too many connections (lesson learned - avoid connecting too many connections lol). Neither one works and I am curious if there is a way to test or repair them before calling an electrician. (I have already tried resetting all the breakers in my basement to no effect.) Thank you for any help!

Something has failed
- Breaker
- Wiring
- Receptacle
An electrician can meter the breaker to make sure voltage is present after being reset.
The electrician would then check to make sure voltage is present at the receptacle and behind the receptacle.
This would require tools that a professional would have.
I am all for trying to save when you can, but this one seems to have a lot of issues that would propmpt me to call an electrician.
