We had a bad storm come through and knock out our power. It came back on, but in order for it to work, we had to reset the breaker box for each switch. Once we did that, we found that several of our power strips burnt and melted, so we unplugged all of them and reset again to get all lights back on. Three days later, I tried to plug in a a new power strip/surge protector and it started to pop and smoke. Do I need to get an electrician in to see what is wrong?

If you are having these troubles after your power came back on it is very likely that you have lightening damage to all electrical components in your house. Like someone else said.. This is a fire hazard! This sort of damage is usually covered by home insurance.. It is very important that you have your wiring & components inspected by a certified electrician ASAP & have them replace what needs to be replaced. The cost of this is of no comparison when you consider the possible complete loss of your dwelling.
You may have damaged wiring. I would get an electrician in to check.
This is totally dangerous and you either have damage in the circuit box or in one of the electrical wires in your home. Before attempting to plug in another outlet you'll need to have this checked.
