Repairing a Faded Crochet Afghan?

My blanket is navy blue/velvet yarn in sports weight added yarn. The yarn is faded, can I use a dye to fix it? The border is light grey.

This will be a hand painted job you will need to do. You can mix your dye colors in glass jars and use a paint brush to paint the dye on the yarn to color the yarn again. Do this in small sections and do not add to much dye to the yarn so it will not run together.

What is the yarn type? If it is cotton or wool you may get a good dye result, knowing the lighter color will be 'muddy'. If it is acrylic, it may not work and could turn out uneven.

Research various dye types for the fabric type. This is going to be a messy job with something big and heavy, so you will want to take that into consideration.

Post back with an update.

You could use a dye. The afghan will come out blue with a lighter shade of blue as the border.
