I have a Janome Memory Craft 9000 machine which is galloping when I either touch the foot pedal, the up/down button or the stop/start. With the foot control removed the other 2 options still cause the same problem. I have cleaned, removed the thread, and changed the needle all to no avail. A tech has been suggested, but I don't have that sort of cash. Any clues anybody?

It sounds as though something in the wiring is short-circuiting. Time for a trip to the repair tech - be sure to look for one adverting he/she is 'factory trained/factory authorised' to ensure the tech has experience with your model Janome.
