Repairing a Kenmore Icemaker Shutoff Arm?

I ahve a Kenmore refrigerator, model #79551319-014. The icemaker's plastic shutoff arm is stuck in down position.

If this arm is plastic and not metal there isn't much to do with it right now. You will need to buy the replacement piece and install it in the ice maker. Plastic arms do break and this is one of the problems with them.

If the arm was a metal it is possible that you could bend it slightly to raise and lower it correctly.

You can try to remove the unit from the freezer and take it apart. See what piece in the plastic gear is broken. You can order the price and replace this and install the unit back in the freezer.
