I have an old Kenmore sewing machine and it runs smoothly until I put the bobbin cover on it and then it freezes up. It is in a bind when it freezes up. What do I do for it?

Sometimes there is a build up of threads and dust in the bobbin housing. This can freeze up your machine. To fix this, you would need to clean out housing, free of thread and dust . Also what can freeze your machine is threading is off( a step missing) when threading. And third make sure that your needle is secure!
Are you using the correct bobbin? My machine did that and I found I had a couple of bobbins that were slightly off. I tossed those, filled a new bobbin, and the problem was solved.
In cases like this it normally means that there is something under the feeddog of the machine that is blocking the bobbin case from turning freely. If you have a small piece of material down inside the feeddog of the machine that blocks the needle from entering inside to take p the bobbin thread then this needs to be take apart from the undersidee of the machine and cleaned out.
