I was typing a letter to my friend and I pressed the enter key and the typewriter stopped! I could only fix it if I took the paper out and put it back in again, but it is devastatingly hard to put it in the exact line! My typewriter is an Electra XT Smith Corona typewriter. It is old.

You could have a short in the circuitry or the key itself could have gone bad. It is difficult to find repair people since most people do not use typewriters anymore. Good luck.
These were rated as one of the best back 'in the day' so maybe someone can help you fix your problem.
Check out this site; you will have to join (free) but they answer questions.
You might have a typewriter repair shop in your area;
Google typewriter repairs with your zip code and see what surfaces.
Here is an information link - but I do not think they will offer any assistance with problems. More like a collectors site but they have all manuals (for a price) and other types of information as well as parts - but they have info on dating of machines.
