This Olympia Reporter electric typewriter was working perfectly when last used 25+ years ago. However, when plugging it in now and turning it on, there's a humming noise, but the keys only move up part way (ie. not far enough to strike the page).
Does anyone have any quick fixes or troubleshooting ideas? It would be a shame to trash it.

A lot of times there is a reset switch on these old machines. You basically need to hit the switch to reprogram the machine and make it work again.
Olympia mechanical typewriters have a lever which locks the carriage in the center position for transport. When locked, the keys only move up about 1/3 of the way. Might also be a carriage lock...?
