My model 158.541 Kenmore sewing machine stitches very nicely, but I cannot adjust the stretch length. I found that the nylon gear that sits behind the stitch length knob is broken. Can I replace it? Do you have instructions or video?

You should be able to do this yourself. Here is a website that you can order the gear from. www.vintagesingerparts.com/
The videos I saw online seem to talk about other gears on the machine and how to replace them. When ordering the gear you need ask the company for the instructions on how it is replaced. Normally they add them to the package but in some cases the gear does not come with replacement instructions.
Thank you so much. I will try and let you know.
Can you specify exactly which replacement gear would work on a Kenmore 1703 for the stitch length? Thank you!
